10:49 am - Soundtrack Meme
solidfoamsoul strikes again... I'm a little thief.
Movie soundtrack for your life. The rules: 1. Put your music player of choice on shuffle 2. Scene one = first song played, scene two = second, so on. 3. No cheating/skipping 4. Pass it on
Opening Credits: "Dancing On the Moon" - The Squirrel Nut Zippers
Waking Up: "Whenever, Wherever" - Shakira
An Ordinary Day: "Thriller" - Michael Jakcson (Well, that certainly is ordinary for me...)
The First Date: "Hold My Hand" - Hootie and the Blowfish
Falling in Love: "Straight To My Heart" - Sting (A little bit too appropriate... *glares menacingly at iPod*)
The Rumble: "All You Need Is Love" - The Beatles (Awesome.)
The Break-up: "San Francisco Bay Blues" - Peter, Paul, and Mary (Appropriate, but nothing can beat solidfoamsoul's "WUBBA WUBBA!")
Getting Back Together: "Takin' Care Of Business" - Bachman-Turner Overdrive
Life's Okay: "The Chicken Dance" - Spitting Image (Bug gypsyjr for it if you must. A quick Google for the lyrics to this song is worth it, believe me.)
The Mental Breakdown: "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" - Eiffel 65 (Appropriate, as this song does in fact cause mental breakdowns.)
Cruising: "No Matter What" - Badfinger
The Flashback: "She's Like the Wind" - Patrick Swayze (I love it when people start randomly singing "I've Had the Time Of My Life." Not that that has anything to do with this.)
The Frat Party: "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" - Disneyland (... Full of hang-overs, constant vomiting, and embarrassing photographs.)
Everybody Dance Now: "Woody's Roundup" - Toy Story 2
Regretting: "Just a Dream Away" - Fraggle Rock
The Long Night Alone: "Rumble Bug Hum" - Fraggle Rock (A night full of that song would be long, indeed.)
A Death: "Say You Love Me" - Fleetwood Mac ('Cause when the lovin' starts and the lights go down... that's necrophilia, baby!)
That was fun. Let's do it again sometime. Current Mood: content Current Music: So many to choose from...

10:25 am - Off to See the Wi... Er, Mouse Well, folks, I'm not going to be around at all this weekend. I'll give you a moment to get your emotions in check. I have two 5:00 AM trainings to brave, but I'm looking forward to them immensely. Just not the 5:00 AM part. I'm staying down there just this once to get rid of the commute time because otherwise I'd have to get up at around 2:30, and that's not cool. I'm not at my best in the mornings. :p It takes me a few hours to truly "wake up."
So, now that I'm going to be skipping out the door in, oh, five minutes, this the cue for y'all to make a hundred thousand entries apiece, even if you haven't updated in forever. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT YOU DO. I'm on to your tricks. I see you twirling your collective moustaches like so many melodramatic villains. Oh, yes.
Huggies to all (the squeezing kind, not the Pampers competitor), and hopefully I'll have lots of stories to tell when I get back. Current Mood: awake Current Music: Bedknobs and Broomsticks - "The Beautiful Briny"

05:19 pm - Song Meme: The Follow-Up I believe all of the guesses are in for the song meme from a few days ago. Here's the ones you didn't get:
2. My, my, the clock in the sky is pounding away [The Monkees - "The Porpoise Song"] (A very non-Monkee song from the beginning of their movie, Head.)
11. Want some whiskey in your water [Three Dog Night - "Mama Told Me Not To Come"] ( dawn82 got the song title, just not the correct version.)
12. Start tearing the old man down [Counting Crows - "Omaha"] (I'm not surprised that no one guessed this one because it wasn't a single way back when. Still awesome, though.)
16. Hey, kids, listen up if you want to be sick [Moxy Fruvous - "Green Eggs and Ham"] (A catchy musical version of the story. Sort of.)
19. Pale, pubescent beasts [The Divine Comedy - "Songs Of Love"] (A gorgeous song, but a little jarring when you realize that the instrumental part in the middle was used as the theme song for Father Ted.)
20. I feel the rhythm of the clickity-clack [Muppet Babies - "Railroad Trackin'"] (I really, really didn't expect anyone to get this. But, what the hey.) Current Mood: sick Current Music: The Divine Comedy - "Becoming More Like Alfie"

02:48 pm - Spring Break! Spring break has arrived for me! Whoo!
I finally saw the Aladdin stage show at California Adventure yesterday and it was amazing. It's basically the movie, only without all of the parts where they don't sing. It was pretty amazing, visually, but the best part was that Iago was a puppet. The puppeteer was in full view and in a costume themed with everything else, but black. Nifty. I wonder how often they rotate the jokes because there were some that were pretty "now." But my favorite is the Genie after Aladdin promises to use his final wish to grant his freedom: "I'm TOTALLY adding you to my friends list on MySpace!" I'm not even kidding. Whoa.
Also: BAWK. Just BAWK.
I hope y'all are doing well. I've been pretty wrapped up in myself lately... got a million things going on and a million others I need to prepare for. But, hey. Comment and say hi.
(Anyone heard from kittencuffs lately? How's she doing?) Current Mood: content Current Music: Randy Newman - "I Love L.A."

09:29 pm - Ow What is the worst physical pain you've ever been in?
I'm a pretty clumsy person, and I'm surprised I'm not injured more often than I am. Still, my list is impressive. I've fallen down stairs on more than one occasion, had a car parked on my foot, and taken many tumbles on bikes. But looking back right now, I'd say the worst has been my busted ankle (all three entries are friendslocked - sorry silent stalkers). I didn't cry at all the day I did it - in fact, I was almost ready to hop up and play again, except for the part where I couldn't stand up. What hurt the most was getting the thing x-rayed. I swear, that woman was trying to snap it in two. Then, and only then, did the tears flow. It was like torture.

08:30 pm - "'You put the lime in the coconut, and drink them both together' - that's an old bluegrass number." My literature class can all go... do... something unpleasant for all I care. Losers.
With our essays, we're supposed to turn in a feedback sheet. We have to get three different classmates to read our essays and give us one positive and one negative thing. Since I was gone last week, I wasn't able to get anyone to do it, so I arrived early today and asked the whole class if anyone would be willing to read mine really quickly and give me the two measley lines of feedback. All I got in return were blank stares. Wow, I can't wait until the next one when someone needs my help. (If I haven't mentioned it before, I hold grudges. Boy do I ever hold grudges.)
Our midterm was tonight. Whoo-hoo. Like I said before, I had missed last week when she would have gone over everything. It wasn't like I was lazy and just ditched out on class; no, due to an unfortunate mix-up that night I ate some very old food and wound up very sick. But, no, I wasn't there, and didn't expect anyone to fill me in on what I had missed, even if she had given out all of the midterm's questions and answers. I asked the class in general if I needed any of my books because I was going to run back out to my car while there was still time. I just got a few grunts and someone said that she hadn't told them anything about the test. Okay, I would wait and ask. Not ten seconds later another lady who was gone the week before asked Stupid Girl (in her case, almost a compliment) if she knew what was going to be on the final, and she said, "Yeah, the teacher went over everything last week!" and proceeded to spill the beans. Now, I understand people not wanting to give an advantage to those lazy fools who don't show up to class, but 1) it wasn't like I could help being ill; and 2) I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF WE NEEDED OUR BOOKS.
Oh, just you wait, y'all. I'll get my revenge.
Now I'm all depressed again. 'K, here's yesterday's Disney trip in a nutshell: dud day for Laughing Stock, spent lotsa quality time at DCA, discovered the Miner 49ers and fell in love, PAPA JED!!!, Italian sausage on a hot dog bun topped with Caesar salad, rode various rides in the almost-rain (including California Screamin'!), and watched a bit of the Block Party Bash (which included, but was not limited to, many Pixar characters, guys dressed as those green plastic soldiers from Toy Story, awesome routines involving trampolines, interestingly bad pants, and a medley of Every Song You've Ever Heard Ever). Fun for all! Current Mood: exhausted Current Music: Rockapella - "Jenny Come Away"

09:43 pm - Study Habits? Me? I feel like I haven't been around in forever. Sowwy. Every time I think I've dug myself out of a hole, everything comes crashing down once again. I don't think I've slept properly in several days. I've been having bad nightmares lately. Tomorrow I'm going to treat myself to... Disneyland. Sort of. See, I won't be home this entire long weekend and I have to get all the stuff done for my online classes that normally gets bumped to Saturday or Sunday. So tomorrow, I'm going to grab my textbooks and hang with the Mouse.
And azzie_cat34, I know I've been promising those CDs to you for like two months now. I've been working really hard on them and the whole package, and hopefully you'll find it was worth the wait. I'll be mailing it sometimes next week. Current Mood: thoughtful Current Music: Beauty and the Beast - "Something There"

08:06 pm - And the Disney Madness Continues... With some birthday monies I bought myself a copy of the "Disneyland Fun" Sing-Along DVD. It came out on VHS in 1990 or thereabouts, and I wore my copy out very quickly. I'm happy to report that it still makes me cry. Eep. It was quite fun to see the Disneyland of fifteen years ago again. The submarines! The Skyway to Fantasyland/Tomorrowland! The big pile o' nothing in Adventureland! And the PEOPLEMOVER! Memories of vacations with Grandma came rushing right back... :p The best part of the Disney Sing-Along tapes, though, is the Disney Sing-Along Song song. YES. Can't wait to make MP3s.

08:01 pm - Amusement
- How, when I was on crutches these past two weeks, BF would walk in front of me, swing his arms, and yell, "Johnny Fiama, comin' through!" No, really. In public.
- The way kitties wiggle their butts right before pouncing on a piece of string.
- When I was looking for a cast list from a certain British TV show, and accidentally typed As Tim Goes By. I would totally watch that show. Tim!
- The way Jim Henson said "Whitmire." The first syllable was always stressed, and said with such deliberate care: "WHIT-mire."
- Don't pull the plug 'cause I like my mud to be knee-deep. Knee-deep.
I got a new keychain! I wrote to the LEGO people because the lovely Harry Potter set I got for Christmas was missing a piece, and I got it in the mail today along with a little red 2x4 brick keychain. Sweetness.
Also? Tomorrow? Kind of a big day for me. Been looking forward to it for three years. For three years ago tomorrow, I went to Taco Bell with two or three of my "friends" and was home before 9:30 because I was suffering big-time from mononucleosis. Also, I very seriously almost left home and quit school for good. Among other things. Tomorrow? Me, BF, and the Mouse are going to have a blast. Good. 10:44 am - "It's a very nice Sunday... a 'super' Sunday, if I may say so..." First things first: I'm not in a pleasant mood right now. And if you're not into my Disneyland geek-out posts, tough. Richard Hunt fans (that's, like, all of you, right?) should stick around.
Mistakes I've made in the past: "Disneyland won't be crowded today because it's Thanksgiving Day/the day after Christmas/a Wednesday in January." Now we can add Super Bowl Sunday to that list! It would be interesting to know the ratio of women and children to men, though... It might not have been as crowded as it seemed - I made a hungry beeline for the Bengal BBQ - because not only is the Haunted Mansion closed right now, but BOTH Indiana Jones and the Jungle Cruise were down when I got there. The entrance to Frontierland from Main Street is closed for refurbishment, too, so that makes for one crowded Adventureland. On the other hand, all the Space Mountain FastPasses were gone by the time I arrived (2:30).
Remeber how I was craving rice pudding on Saturday night, azzie_cat34? Even though I couldn't remember if I actually liked it or not? Well, Disneyland (or DCA, rather) came through! One food place sells rice pudding covered in cinammon that is scrumptious. Nummers. There's also a mini Mission tortilla factory where you can take a quick, self-guided tour. I got a fresh corn tortilla. Again, nummers. There's also another tour through the bakery next door, and the videos are hosted by Rosie O'Donnell and Colin Mochrie. Colin Mochrie!
Anyway, crowds can make for a not fun experience when it comes to rides, but the shows are more fun when the theaters are full. I had my two best viewings of Muppetvision 3D back-to-back with a theater full of seven- and eight-year olds belly laughing, trying to reach out and "catch" Waldo, and waving frantically at the guy in the Sweetums suit. Awesome. Our "lab technician" was a really funny guy, too. "No eating, drinking, smoking, photography or video recording of any kind; and no cell phones or pagers beeping or meeping." Love.

08:08 pm - Speek Give me a little longer on the photo meme. I certainly haven't forgotten about it, but there are a few that I need to do outside the apartment, and that's just not going to happen right now. Another week, maybe? (For anyone who hasn't chosen suggested anything for it, I'm still open to new stuff.)
Also also: I've been kicking around the idea of doing an audio post for awhile so that you can all experience the rich deepness of my glorious monotone voice. Or my shy baby voice, depending on my mood. The problem is, I don't know what to say. I am calling upon you, LJ friends, to help. Do you have a question or two I can answer? Something you've always wanted to ask but never got around to doing? A word or phrase I use a lot that you want to hear me say/explain? Something else?
You are all good people. Current Mood: lazy Current Music: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Higher Ground"
